You can take a ferry to reach Isla de Coche; the island is inhabited and it's one of the richest salt mines in Venezuela. The ferry leaves from Punta de Piedras all weekdays at 4 pm and returns at 5.30. On weekdays there are 2 ferries going, but I don't know the exact schedule.Ask around.
