Caracas, the Cathedral

Posted 1 year ago by simonetty in response to avatar betty's question: What's the most interesting attraction of Plaza Bolivar, in Caracas? (give a different answer) .

In the Plaza Bolivar, still the official centre of the city, there is the fine equestrian statue of the Liberator and the present colonial Cathedral. The Cathedral dates from 1674 and has a beautiful facade, gilded altar, the Bolivar family chapel and paintings by Michelena, Murillo and an alleged Rubens "Resurrection".
